A settlement has existed at Fawley for many centuries, and the village itself was recorded in the Domesday Book. A church at Fawley was first recorded in 971. The present church (All Saints) was built between 1170 and 1340.
History of All Saints' Church
The present Church of All Saints, Fawley was begun in 1170,to replace previous buildings which had been there since 971 at the latest.
Its original dedication was probably to St Nicholas, the patron saint of seafarers at All Saints’ was the last Church to be seen as a sailor's left Southampton water.
It is a splendid Norman building, with additions until around 1300, and has served the people of the parish for over 800 years.
During the time it has seen many additions and changes, as it has been adapted to suit the needs of the local community in its worship of God.
The Church is used for the regular round of daily and weekly services, and also for special events including occasion offices – baptisms, weddings, funerals - concert's, exhibition and school visits, and is open every day of the year for prayer, quiet and visitors.
All the money for the maintenance of this historic building has to be found locally - there are no central funds.

Friends of All Saints' Church
The Friends of All Saints' provides a means by which people near and far can have a particular involvement in the life of this ancient Parish Church.
For many people this Church has featured at significant moments in their lives - baptisms, weddings, funerals, family celebrations, childhood memories and worship week by week.
The Friends assist the Church Council in the maintenance and enhancement of the fabric and furnishings, thus supporting the worship which gives the place its purpose and meaning.
Friends pay an annual subscription, are invited to attend the Annual Friends Festival (usually the first Sunday in June), receive a twice-yearly newsletter, and are invited to take part in other events during the year.
